  • Innovation crossed with sustainability is the key value for this season.

Valuing craftsmanship and savoir-faire was at the core of the February 2025 edition of the textile fair. This edition highlights artisans as both guardians of traditional techniques and pioneers of innovation, adapting their craft to align with economic and ecological challenges. By blending tradition and innovation, the industry is shaping a more sustainable future—one rooted in heritage, longevity, and eco-conscious practices.

In terms of themes, the season is articulated toward 3 aesthetics: Re-Fresh, Re-Store and Re-Set.

Trend themes: Re-fresh, Re-store, and Re-set

Re-fresh: crisp elegance inspired by the mountains

This summer’s inspiration leans towards the fresh, crisp atmosphere of the mountains rather than exotic destinations. This translates into cold shimmers, frosted effects, muted icy sheens, and delicate metallics. The color palette is washed and cooler, featuring glacial and aquatic blues, greens, and refined metallic accents. This aquatic chic mood was also part of our “Aquatic Wonderland” theme (available on our Heuritech insights platform).

Re-store: rustic-chic with a contemporary edge

The natural and rustic-chic aesthetic is also very strong, with earthy tones, slub and wrinkled effects everywhere (even on leather). This theme emphasizes tradition and modern savoir-faire, without being old-fashioned, with work of art, and excellency being the main ideas. An equivalent of natural and chic aesthetic can be found in our “Serene Romance” theme.

Natural finishes such as fringes, and materials such as raffia, linen, macramé, are ennobled with delicate beading, metallic threads. The mix of techniques is bringing new hybridations, such as a denim weave with flower jacquard, trompe l’oeil of knit and tweed 3D textures on fleece, matte and granular sequins. Frayed details transform into feather-like airy fringes.

Natural fibers are naturally thermo-regulating but the threads are thinner for a more light and fluid effect, and even the silks are plant-based. Tailoring is infused with slub effects and more colors, for a time-proof urban luxury.

Re-set: bold playfulness and dopamine dressing

This aesthetic was focusing on a bold playful and spontaneous mood. Sugary, humoristic, even caricatural, this theme is looking for the “dopamine effect”, almost giving a glycemic surge as it’s full of pink and pastel candies color and gourmand textures.

Flowers are a key print. Picture a retro crazy garden, where the inspiration is the 60s: recolored big vintage flowers (naïves daisies as the star-flower) are mixed with pop stripes for a “happy shirting” style. Flower Prints are expected to grow by 2% in the 12 coming months in the US, according to Heuritech’s data, especially on Shorts (17%), Tank Tops (11%), Shirts (9%). Jacquard with cut-yarn effects are adding texture and edge to flowers and hypnotic abstracts patterns.

The 60s are seen as well in the weight and density of fabrics, for round and compact constructed pieces. Emphasizing on the feeling of fabrics, Petal-touch and peach skin textures are embedded with some performance skills. Velvety nubucks are colored in luminous ranges. In contrast, we saw very fluid silks “as syrup”, almost sensual, becoming second-skin with movement. Eco-friendly “plastic-like” shine with recycled fibers, fake leather solvents-free and made from agro-alimentaire industry waste are also part of the aesthetic.

Key market insights & forecasts from Heuritech

The overall volumes will be focusing on comfy roomy shapes, with natural and technical breathable and light-weight fabrics, rather than showing more of the body.
Sports have always been infused in lifestyle, but this season particularly, where the need for smart fabrics that helps regulate temperature (naturally or technically) is a pre-requisite. Performant and functional sporty and leisure items are worn mixed with office pieces.

Below we present the key points based from both Premiere Vision’s forums and our consumer forecast.

Tweed: a modern take on timeless elegance

Tweed has long been synonymous with elegance, but the latest innovations bring a new level of sophistication. Première Vision highlighted a growing consumer preference for lightweight tweeds that blur the line between structured tailoring and effortless fluidity. This evolution of tweed embraces a gauzy, open-weave structure that enhances breathability while maintaining its refined aesthetic. Additionally, the incorporation of delicate metallic threads into the fabric weaves introduces a subtle shimmer, elevating tweed into the realm of modern luxury.

With demand for tweed expected to rise by 7% in the next 12 months in the U.S., brands that integrate these airy, contemporary interpretations of tweed into their collections will be well-positioned to capture consumer interest. Particularly, tweed tops are anticipated to see a 12% increase in popularity, while tweed dresses will experience a 16% surge. This movement signals a shift toward textural, statement-making garments that maintain a timeless yet forward-thinking appeal.

Denim: reinvented with textural innovation

Denim continues to be a staple in wardrobes worldwide, but innovation is driving its evolution in unexpected ways. According to Heuritech’s AI-powered analysis, demand for denim is expected to grow across various categories, with Bleached Denim leading at a 7% increase, followed by Brut Denim at 6%, and Light Denim at 5% over the next 12 months in the U.S. This growth is fueled by consumer interest in vintage-inspired finishes and elevated textural elements. A clear evolution compared to 2024 top denim trends.
At Premiere Vision, designers presented denim reimagined with frayed edges inspired by tweed and overdyed brown hues that offer a sophisticated take on casualwear. The surprising contrast of chic-distressed effects made from jacquard techniques was also very innovative. The emergence of linen chambray a a stylish alternative reflects a desire for breathable, summer-ready fabrics that retain denim’s durability while enhancing comfort. Brands integrating these innovative treatments into their collections will be well-positioned to meet the growing demand for elevated, textural denim.

Seersucker: A Classic Reinvented

Seersucker, known for its puckered texture and breathable nature, is experiencing a revival with sophisticated patterning. This season, Prince of Wales checks, windowpane designs, and mini gingham add a tailored elegance to the fabric, making it a go-to for contemporary suiting and relaxed-yet-polished summer ensembles. This aligns with the Quirky Gentleman and Trad Wife themes curated by the Heuritech fashion team, which emphasize a blend of refined tradition and modern sophistication.

Suppliers such as Kaynak, Tessitura Carlo Bassetti, Texser-Textil de Serzedelo, and Jiangsu Lianfa Textile showcased refined iterations of seersucker, emphasizing its potential in both casual and formal settings. The infusion of pastel shivers on silk-like textures further elevates its luxurious appeal.

With a growing consumer inclination toward breathable, structured fabrics, Heuritech forecasts an uptick in demand for seersucker, particularly in smart casual and resort wear collections.

Rainproof fabrics: elevated functionality

The rising demand for functional, weather-resistant textiles is reflected in Heuritech’s latest insights, which suggest a growing preference for rainproof materials with a luxurious finish. Soft cotton fabrics with peach-touch coatings, protective wax treatments, and tie-dye effects on matte shells are becoming increasingly popular, blending practicality with elevated aesthetics. Expect an increased presence of rainproof trench coats, tailored waterproof blazers, and breathable, performance-driven outerwear in the coming months, as brands respond to this shift in consumer behavior by offering garments that seamlessly merge protection and style.

Linen: a study in chic simplicity

With sustainability at the forefront, linen remains a key player in the natural fiber movement, celebrated for its breathability and timeless appeal. This season, innovations in linen textiles showcase subtle slub textures and waterless treatments, enhancing both sustainability and luxury. However, Heuritech’s analysis suggests that while linen shirts will continue to perform well, consumer demand for linen pants is expected to decline, signaling a shift toward more structured suiting options. Designers are reinterpreting linen with tailored silhouettes, refined pinstripes, and washed silk-like drapery, offering an elevated take on this natural fabric that aligns with modern sophistication.

Silk: luxurious and sustainable innovations

Silk remains a key player in fabric innovations, with washed silks in rich tones and plant-based silkies gaining traction. Suppliers such as Marsala, Burmod Tekstil, Isiksoy Tekstil, Zhejiang Matsui Textile, and Sonmez ASF are leading the movement toward more sustainable luxury.

Stripes: a classic reinvented

According to Heuritech’s data, Thin Horizontal Stripes on Short Dresses are forecasted to grow by 28%, while Thin Vertical Stripes on Pants will see a 15% increase. Relaxed authentic and vintage stripes, including small mattress stripes in vintage tones, are particularly strong on rustic-chic linen fabrics, reinforcing a timeless yet modern aesthetic.

Lace: a revival of texture and craftsmanship

According to Heuritech’s data, Thick Lace is forecasted to grow by 4% in the next 12 months, especially in Thick Lace Blouses (+16%) and Thick Lace Short Dresses (+10%) in the US women’s market. Cotton and linen rustic thick lace and open-work, including Broderie Anglaise, are taking center stage, with leading suppliers such as Eusebio Sanchez, Broche-Estar Tekstil, Pizval, KGS Lace, and Akspa Embroidery Lace presenting refined interpretations. Additionally, metallic lace and intricate designs from Antik Dantel and Shenda Lace are adding a modern edge to this traditional fabric.

Running & athleisure: performance meets style

We have explained the reasons behind the rise of athleisure before, and it will continue growing. Lycra is forecasted to grow by 2% in the next 12 months in the US, especially in Jackets (+18%) and Mini Cycling Shorts (+11%). Additional stretch and texture are introduced through smocks and small tone-on-tone 3D jacquards, enhancing both comfort and functionality. Innovations in athletic cellulose include slub bi-stretch and antibacterial jerseys with low chemical impact finishing. Laser open-work and perforations on technical jerseys provide breathability and a modern aesthetic. Windproof fabrics incorporate cloqué, micro-seersucker, and water-repellent treatments, ensuring protection against the elements. Dynamic knits, featuring ultra-thin stretch jerseys with a very soft touch, are redefining cozy yet functional lingerie. Suppliers such as Cosy Lingerie and Stam Art-Éstil are at the forefront of these developments, pushing the boundaries of performance and style.
